The case of premium wine includes:
- One bottle of 2013 Araujo Altagracia Cabernet Sauvignon: The “Second” Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine from the Eisele vineyard, this is much more approachable at an earlier age. Notes reflected in this bottle include flavors of graphite chocolate, nutmeg, earth, tobacco, cedar, and red currants. This is a big wine and can be enjoyed with a steak, cheese, or burgers. Value: $120.
- One bottle of 2008 Chateau Léoville-Barton. Saint-Julien, Bordeaux, France. 96 points Wine Enthusiast “A dense, beautifully structured wine. It shows intense, ripe fruit with balanced acidity. It’s the fine tannins that give it such class, surrounding the fruit, promising long aging. This is a classic for Léoville-Barton. *Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2011*” Value: $100
- One bottle of 1999 Cain Concept: Here is a chance to taste a well-aged California Bordeaux-style blend. Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, this also includes juice from several other grapes giving the wine a complexity and a subtlety that is often lacking from California Cabs. The age has rounded out any sharp edges. This wine pairs beautifully with cheese. Value: $90.
- One bottle of 2004 Trimbach Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile: A very food-friendly wine that you can drink now or age for another 20 years. This dry Riesling has a flavor palate that can run from floral notes of gardenias and roses to exotic tropical fruits. Value: $90.
- One bottle of 2009 Negro Lorenzo Roero San Francesco Riserva (Magnum). Roero (Piedmont), Italy. 100% Nebbiolo. Very nuanced expression of a Nebbiolo, with an elegance only found in wines from the sandy soils of the Roero. Tannins are sweet and velvety instead of harsh. This is meant to be a Nebbiolo you can both consume immediately and one that can stand up to several years in the cellar. Prunes, roses, hints of spice and vanilla. Value: $70
- One bottle of Accendo Cellars 2013 Sauvignon Blanc: This limited production wine is a California SB, made in the style of Haut Brion Blanc (a $1200/bottle wine). The winemaker and the owner (Bart Araujo) previously ran Araujo Vineyards, maker of the cult wines produced from the historic Eisele Vineyard. It is drinking well now, but can also age for another 5-10 years. Value: $60.
- Two bottles of 2011 Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella Classico: This is a true classic of the appellation, a wine that embraces tradition and a sense of place. The wine has an imposing structure and depth, as much in its aromas of mature fruit and spices, as on the palate, where alcohol is sustained by balanced acidity and refined tannins. Matches well with venison, lamb, and risottos. Value: $60 each.
- Two bottles of Davie’s Vineyard’s 2017 Hyde Vineyards Pinot Noir: Pale ruby-purple in color, the 2017 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyards is a little mute at first, unfurling to offer baked red and black cherries, warm raspberries and fragrant soil scents plus waft of Provence herbs, tobacco and cloves. Medium-bodied, the palate is tightly wound with a soft texture and great freshness supporting the earthy nuances and delivering good length. Value: $60 each
- One bottle of 2010 Haut-Bages-Libéral, Pauillac. Bordeaux, France. 91-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar. “A blend of 72% cabernet sauvignon and 28% merlot. Medium-dark ruby. Fruity, bright aromas of red cherry, red berries and flowers, complicated by cedar and graphite. Then light and lively in the mouth, with strawberry, raspberry and smoky dark cherry flavors complicated by hints of white pepper and gunflint. The finish features a lingering floral note and chewy tannins that will need some time to resolve but seem polished enough to guarantee a bright future. This is an excellent, classically styled Haut-Bages Liberal, just a step below the first growths: I loved its balance, refined texture and sneaky concentration, though it might fail to impress those looking for a large quantity of creamy, soft fruit.” Value: $60
- One bottle of Pol Roger White Foil - Extra Cuvée de Réserve Brut Champagne. Champagne, France. 92 points James Suckling "One of the great, all-round NV offerings in a classically styled, soft and silky package. Berries, biscuits and smooth, vinous texture in the mouth. Really easy going with all-round appeal.” Value: $50
