3. Alaska Means Adventure: The Kachemak Bay Awaits You!

Are you dreaming of an amazing outdoor adventure filled with breathtaking scenery, wildlife, and fresh seafood?  Has the beauty of Alaska been calling you forever? Now’s your chance to plan that trip and sweeten your experience by anchoring it with this lovely Kachemak Bay package, complete with a May 2018 feast of amazingly fresh (and famous) pacific salmon from  Copper River Seafoods, delivered from Alaska to your Massachusetts home within 48 hours of this season’s “first pull” from the river.  What a way to whet your appetite for your upcoming Alaskan adventure!

The Kenai Peninsula, a 9,000 mile natural paradise, juts off of southern Alaska, south of Anchorage.  With glaciers, the snow-capped Kenai Mountains, and a wild coastline as your backdrop, take the spectacular drive south from Anchorage to the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula to arrive at Kachemak Bay.  Your KB adventure begins here; welcome to Alaska’s outdoor playground!

Kachemak Bay is home to tiny boardwalk villages, incredible culinary experiences, great galleries, fresh seafood, and, above all, unparalleled wilderness.  Base your trip in Homer, where you will explore the Kachemak Bay from both ski and sea, an Alaskan experience like no other! This package includes:

  • $500 gift certificate for lodging (approximately a three night stay, depending on the lodging you select) at the Land’s Inn Resort in Homer, on the Kachemak Bay
  • Flightseeing tour (up to three people) with Smokey Bay Air
  • $140 wildlife cruise (two people) with Rainbow Tours to small fishing village of Seldovia
  • AND, 7-10 lbs of Copper River Red Salmon from Copper River Seafoods (worth $1,750.)

This Kachemak Bay package has been arranged by Amy and George Rhyneer, Alaskan locals, who would be pleased to advise you on your entire Alaskan trip.  And, if the timing is right, Amy will meet the winners in Seldovia for lunch at her family’s cabin or in Anchorage for a meal at her home in Eagle River.  Fishing trips, hiking trail gems, glacial fjord kayaking adventures- these are all easy to plan with Amy and George’s insider’s expertise.

Before you go, feast on Alaskan salmon!  Mother Nature is in charge, but this exquisite first-catch treat will likely happen May 15-17, 2018.  Carefully fished to avoid bycatch and assure resource regeneration, Copper River Seafoods fishermen follow quality handling practices for a longer shelf life and superior culinary results. This exclusive Waring School package will arrive in “H&G” form (headed and gutted, bone-in and skin-on).  Let the restaurants and fish markets fight for the chance to pay top dollar for this catch while you wait comfortably in your easy chair for the best sockeye salmon in the world to just flop into your lap!

*Special thanks to Mary McDonald and Jim Supple for donating four Red Sox tickets that we traded with the Pacific Northern Academy School in Alaska along with an overnight stay donated by the Newbury Guest House in Boston and a gift card donated by Cava restaurant. This exchange allowed for this special package.

8. Sold-Out Indigo Girls Concert: May 15th at The Cabot

Question:

What’s better than having fantastic tickets to a sold-out Indigo Girls concert at The Cabot? http://thecabot.org/event/indigo-girls

Answer:

Inviting your favorite peeps to go to The Indigo Girls Cabot concert with you!

Well, this is one great lip-syncing moment!  Bid to win tickets to the sold out Indigo Girls concert at the The Cabot May 15 (and sing every word of those memorable lyrics!).  These aren’t just any tickets. No siree. These are the best seats in the house- table seating on the platform in the orchestra level with unobstructed views. There are 16 seats available in tables of four.

Here’s how this “by-table” bidding works.  The top bidder wins the first table of four tickets.  The price is now set by this winning bid. The winner then has the option to “buy” each additional table for that price, up to all four of them.  The second highest bidder has the option to buy any remaining tables at the winning bid price, and then the third highest bidder, and so on until all four tables are sold.

Estimated Value: $280 (face value for four tickets) x 4 tables
